According to reports, the suspect and an accomplice used a stick to kill the woman, dragged her lifeless body out of their home, and disposed of it by throwing it into a well.
The details of the horrific act were revealed in an interrogation video shared on Instagram by @isaacfayoseoriginal. In the video, the suspect admitted to the crime, explaining how he and his accomplice, identified as Walcot, carried out the act. Speaking in Pidgin English, which was later translated, Mathias recounted the events leading to the killing.
He said, ” I and Walcot killed her. We used a stick to do it. Afterward, Walcot dragged her out of the house, and we both carried her to the well. When we got there, I opened the well, and together, we threw her body inside. ” Mathias also revealed that Walcot fled the scene shortly after they disposed of the body.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, sparking outrage and calls for justice. Confirming the arrest, Irene Ugbo, the Police Public Relations Officer for Cross River State, stated in an interview on Monday that the case would be escalated to the command’ s headquarters for further investigation.
The shocking incident is one of several recent events drawing attention to Cross River State, including a fire outbreak at a local market and disciplinary actions taken by the state governor against council members and a village head over alleged misconduct.
