Tension In Delta Community As Rusticated Students Clash With Police

On Wednesday, October 3, 2024, a confrontation between rusticated students of Steel Secondary School in Ovwian, Udu LGA, and officers from the Ovwian Division of the Delta State Police Command left residents feeling uneasy. The standoff began when the school administration invited the police to address the students’ alleged criminal behaviour, which had been disrupting the school environment.

According to reports, CSP Aliyu Shaba, the Divisional Police Officer of Ovwian Police Station, swiftly deployed officers to the school to restore order. However, the situation escalated, pitting the students against the police. The students, already frustrated with their rustication, felt the police presence was an overreach.

Sources within the school premises have said the school might not likely be open for teaching tomorrow, Thursday, October 4, 2024.

When contacted for comments, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, responded with the text message “No problem there, please.”

Gunmen Kill APC Chairman in Kebbi (Photo)
Zaidu Bala, special adviser on television and radio to Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, revealed this in a social media post.

Bako Bala, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Suru Local Government Area (LGA) of Kebbi State is dead.

He was reportedly shot dead by gunmen, according to a Facebook post by Zaidu Bala, special adviser on television and radio to Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris.

He said Bala was killed at his residence following an abduction attempt.

“To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. Alhaji Bako Bala has died — APC chairman of Suru local government,” the post reads.

“He died after kidnappers abducted him and his family last night. They shot him, and he passed away at the Medical Centre Hospital in Birnin Kebbi. May Allah have mercy on him.”

Nafiu Abubakar, the police spokesperson in Kebbi State, when asked, stated that he would verify the incident and provide further information.

This tragic event comes amid a surge in banditry in the north-west region as security forces continue their decade-long battle to combat insecurity.

In recent weeks, Nigerian military personnel have thwarted several attacks across the region. On September 11, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) stopped a terrorist assault on Department of State Services (DSS) facilities in Niger State, and days later, Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) forces killed notorious bandit leaders in Zamfara.

It Was Difficult Withholding Myself From Touching My husband — Kassia

Former Big Brother Naija season 9 housemate, Kassia has revealed that it was difficult for her to withhold herself from touching her husband while she was in the house.

She stated this in a post-eviction interview with Pulse.

According to Kassia, touching is one of her primary love languages, so not touching her husband in the house was not easy at all.

She further revealed that her friendship with Victoria helped her cope with the restriction.

Kassia said:

“It [withholding myself from being physical with my husband] was difficult because one of my love languages is physical touch. And I was restricted from doing all of that.

“But Victoria actually helped me. You all saw the way I was always hugging her. She was my comfort zone.”
