Alex Jimenez has found himself a regular starter at AC Milan over the past few games, but things could have been very different for the Spaniard.

As TMW report, just month ago Milan left-back Alex Jimenez ‘seemed destined to leave’ Milan because he was struggling for playing time under Paulo Fonseca. Theo Hernandez is obviously the starter but even when he couldn’t play Filippo Terracciano was chosen.

However, Fonseca chose to play Jimenez when benching Theo and the results were positive, so much so that even when the Portuguese was replaced by his compatriot Sergio Conceicao he has kept his starting place.

Jimenez has been used both as a left-back and as a winger on both sides, proving to be more than up to the task even if he does not have a goal contribution yet. The 19-year-old offered five good starts in the league and the Supercoppa Italiana.

In December Milan explored more than one left-back to become Theo’s new deputy, so as to allow Jimenez to mature elsewhere. In fact, he was even offered on loan to Lecce, but now the former Real Madrid man’s performances have made the club half their pursuit of a player in his role.
