No single artist has denied stealing my songs – Blackface
Nigerian singer, Blackface, has said the notion that he accuses his colleagues of stealing his intellectual property for fun was flawed, stressing that none of those he has accused has denied committing the crime...Read Full Article >>➤
. He said most of his colleagues are jacking his songs because they love his vibe. However, he mentioned that they were doing it wrong by not crediting him.
Speaking in a recent interview with TVC, Blackface said, “People jack my vibes. They love them. It’s not their fault. If I was not me, I would be jacking me too.
“All my songs are being jacked because when you release a song it becomes a published work. The songs are all registered. There’s no song that’s released that’s not registered. Once it is in the public domain, it’s a published work. Was it published before your work?
“It’s not about whether I’ve viable proofs or not. The truth is that the action is wrong. So many Nigerian artists have jacked my songs. And these people that I’ve complained about, they have never for once denied it. So you people would have seen that and say there’s an iota of truth in what Blackface is saying.” ...Read Full Article >>➤

We’re coming to perfect Speed Darlington’s bail – Lawyers write police
Counsel for embattled Nigerian singer Darlington Achakpo, aka Speed Darlington, has expressed readiness to meet his bail conditions imposed by the Federal High Court in Abuja....Read Full Article >>➤
Deji Adeyanju and Partners stated that they would be at the Force Intelligence Bureau, FIB, with a surety to fulfill Darlington’s bail conditions.
The law firm disclosed this in a letter addressed to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, FIB, DIG Galadanchi, in Abuja, dated January 8, 2025.
On December 23, 2023, Justice Liman directed the police authorities to charge Darlington to court within 48 hours or release him unconditionally.
This order followed the rapper’s arrest on November 27, 2023, while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo State.
His arrest was linked to an alleged verbal abuse of Afrofusion star Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy.
Darlington’s counsel, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed that Burna Boy was responsible for his arrest.
Darlington had taunted Burna Boy over his affiliation with embattled United States rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is facing multiple charges of sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
This led to Darlington’s initial arrest. Upon returning to Nigeria, Darlington vowed never to back down on criticising the Grammy Award winner because of his association with the embattled Diddy.
However, Adeyanju’s chamber reminded the DIG that Darlington’s continued detention was unlawful.
The letter, titled “Re: Unlawful Detention of Darlington Achakpo,” reads in part: “As you are no doubt aware, the Federal High Court, per Hon. Justice M. S. Liman, on the 23rd day of December 2024, directed the police authorities to charge our client to court within 48 hours or release him unconditionally.
“A copy of the order is attached herein for ease of reference. On January 6, 2025, the court reiterated the order and urged the police authorities to release him to the lead counsel, our own Marshal Abubakar, who shall produce him in court for trial.
“Although our client was served with a bail term on January 6, 2025 (a copy is attached herein), requesting him to produce a Grade Level 16 Civil Servant, Marshal Abubakar, Esq., and Mazi David Ihuoma, Esq., were at the FIB on January 7, 2025, with a surety to fulfill the bail conditions you imposed.
“However, events and happenings on that day left much to be desired, as several calls and messages sent to you by Marshal Abubakar, Esq., and Deji Adeyanju, Esq., were left unanswered and without response.
“Please note, dear DIG, that Marshal Abubakar, Esq., and Mazi David Ihuoma, Esq., will be coming to the FIB on January 8, 2025, with a surety to fulfill the bail conditions you imposed.
“Whilst anticipating your favourable response and maximum cooperation, please accept our esteemed professional regards.” ...Read Full Article >>➤

JUST IN: Kano Gov. Yusuf dismisses re-election pressure, prioritizes first-term mandate
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering effective governance in Kano, dismissing concerns about political pressure or the 2027 elections....Read Full Article >>➤
This is contained in a statement signed on Wednesday by, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Director General, Media and Publicity, Kano government house. This statement follows speculation about alleged plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to influence the next elections in the state.
“What I am worried about is not re-election,” Governor Yusuf stated. “I am more concerned about delivering the dividends of democracy on the mandate given to me in this first tenure. I want the good people of Kano to judge me by my performance at the end of this tenure.”
The Governor criticized what he described as attempts by opposition figures to create political unrest in Kano. Referring to past election outcomes, he underscored the resilience of his New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), which had achieved sweeping victories in 2019 and 2023 despite lacking political incumbency at the time.
“We know those people who were massively rejected in both 2019 and 2023,” Yusuf noted. “We won against them at a time when we had no political office—not even a councillor. But Allah made it possible for us to win with a landslide victory.”
He also warned the APC leadership in Kano against using inflammatory language, urging them to avoid scaring voters ahead of the next elections.
“I am destined to be a Governor. It is my total belief and submission to the will of Allah that if He so wills, I will serve a second term. If not, I won’t. So why should I bother myself?” he asked rhetorically.
The APC has faced significant setbacks in Kano since the NNPP’s rise to power. In the 2023 elections, the party lost key positions, including the governorship, two senatorial seats, 18 of 26 House of Representatives seats, and 26 of 40 State Assembly seats.
The Governor’s remarks signal his intent to remain focused on governance while dismissing political maneuvering and speculation about 2027.
