Disappearance and Investigation:

According to reports, Yetunde Lawal was last seen on Monday, February 10, 2025, after attending a naming ceremony. Witnesses stated that she received a phone call, left her meal unfinished, and exited the venue. When she failed to return home, her father, Ibrahim Lawal, reported her missing the following day at the Oja-Oba Police Division in Ilorin.

Authorities quickly launched an investigation, tracking her last phone call to a suspect residing in the Offa Garage area of Ilorin metropolis. Upon arrest, the suspect initially denied any involvement, but further searches of his residence led to a chilling discovery.

Horrifying Discovery

“The suspect later confessed that Yetunde had visited him and allegedly suffered a fatal asthma attack,” a source disclosed. However, police found her dismembered body concealed in a bowl, along with tools suspected to have been used in the gruesome act.

Further investigations indicated that the suspect and the victim met on Facebook, where he obtained her contact details and lured her to his residence. Disturbingly, police also uncovered evidence suggesting that this may not have been his first crime, as tools used for body dismemberment were found in his room.

Police Confirm Investigation

Kwara State Police Command spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident, stating: “The command is aware of the gruesome killing of Miss Yetunde H. Lawal. On February 11, 2025, at approximately 18:00 hours, her father, Mr. Ibrahim A. Lawal, reported her missing at C Division, Oja-Oba. Police detectives immediately swung into action, tracked her phone, and arrested the suspect. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation.”
