This revelation was made in a post on X, which was cited by the LATEST_NEWS blog. Orabueze announced that the USB is no longer considered an organisation but a recognised nation with a functional cabinet and legal protections under international law.
She wrote: ” Breaking: Department of Justice registers and recognizes United States of Biafra as a Foreign Nation with its cabinet members. We are no longer an agent or organization.
We are a Nation with all the laws protecting a Nation. ” In a separate development, Nigeria’ s Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday allegedly denied access to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, preventing his legal team and family members from meeting him.
Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’ s lead counsel, disclosed the development in a post on X, stating that the DSS in Abuja refused to allow the legal team, a former Abia State House of Assembly member, and Kanu’ s family members to visit him.
Ejimakor wrote: ” ALERT/UPDATE: Today, the DSS arbitrarily refused us (the Legal Team), an ex- member of Abia State House of Assembly & the family of MAZI NNAMDI KANU from having a visitation with him. This flagrant violation of the Nigerian Constitution and a subsisting Court order will not stand. ”
Ejimakor has consistently accused the DSS of disregarding court rulings that permit Kanu to meet with his legal representatives.
In November 2024, SaharaReporters reported that Ejimakor accused the DSS of intentionally disobeying a court order that granted Kanu access to his lawyers. Following persistent complaints, the DSS allowed a meeting on 11 November 2024, nearly two months after restricting access. The move came after a directive from its Director- General, Mr Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi.
Despite this temporary relief, Ejimakor claims that the DSS has resumed violating Kanu’ s legal rights. He confirmed that the visitation request was submitted on Tuesday ahead of the scheduled visit on Wednesday, yet access was still denied.

” This injustice will not stand, ” Ejimakor asserted, vowing to take legal steps to enforce compliance with the court order.
