The first batch of buses, produced by Lanre Shittu Motors, was handed over to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.

FAAN officials, led by Managing Director Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, received the buses on behalf of the agency.

During the unveiling ceremony, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Management, Festus Keyamo, highlighted the initiative’s alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to embrace cleaner energy solutions.

“These CNG buses will begin passenger transportation at all

our airports immediately,” the minister announced. He emphasized that the deployment supports Nigeria’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and meeting global climate goals.

Keyamo noted that the environmentally friendly buses, featuring zero emissions and accessibility options for individuals with disabilities, reflect the government’s vision to reduce reliance on petrol and diesel while promoting sustainable energy alternatives like CNG.

This transition to CNG vehicles is part of the Federal Government’s broader strategy to cushion the economic impact of fuel subsidy removal while fostering a greener transportation sector.

Lanre Shittu Motors’ Managing Director, Taiwo Shittu, explained that the buses come in two models: a 31-seater for airport shuttles and a 54-seater for city mass transit.

Both variants are equipped with modern conveniences, including air conditioning, viewing screens, and charging ports to enhance passenger comfort.
