He highlighted the nation’ s strengthened economic position, citing the Naira’ s appreciation against the US dollar, rising foreign reserves, and consistent trade surpluses over the past three quarters. The President also commended the stock market’ s historic growth, which generated trillions of naira in wealth, and an increase in foreign investments as evidence of restored global confidence in Nigeria.
Despite these successes, Tinubu recognized ongoing issues such as the high cost of living and inflation, which stood at 34. 6% in 2024. He assured Nigerians that his administration is determined to tackle these problems by lowering inflation to 15% in 2025 through initiatives aimed at boosting agricultural output and encouraging the local production of essential goods.
To further support economic growth, Tinubu announced the imminent establishment of the National Credit Guarantee Company, which will expand access to credit for individuals and businesses. This initiative, expected to launch in the second quarter of the year, will involve collaboration between government agencies, private enterprises, and international partners. The program aims to empower underserved groups, including women and youth, while fostering re- industrialization and improving living standards nationwide.
