In a press conference addressed by the Lagbua family heads on Saturday, February 1, 2025, the family stated that Oba Olabomi’s statements are full of attacks on the government and governor of Osun state for serving truth and justice.
The family heads affirmed that the Lagbua family of Iragbiji are peace-loving people who have taken the right path to seek justice for their exclusion from the Iragbiji ruling houses. They described Governor Adeleke as a symbol of justice and truth, noting that the Lagbua family has been a pillar of support in the history and progress of Iragbiji for over 600 years.
According to the family heads, “When the present Government of Light (Imole), under the distinguish leadership of Senator Jackson Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke emerged, our Family through our lawyer petitioned the Osun State Government on the Rejection of Lagbua Family as a ruling house into the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Chieftaincy declaration in a letter dated 15th September, 2023.
“The Government in her wisdom did not act in a hurry, took its time to do due diligence and followed due process to look into the matter. The Government of Light (Imole) served justice on this matter and communicate the verdict after the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday January 29th, 2025.”
The family heads stated that the chieftaincy struggle has nothing to do with politics, contrary to Oba Abdul-Rasheed Olabomi’s claims in a press conference held at the Aragbiji palace on Friday, January 31, 2025.
They said, ” That the Lagbua Family of Iragbiji has pursued this struggle for our right to the throne of our forefathers (which is our Birth right) for a very long time, in a very peaceful manner, through Law, administrative and judicial processes.
“That the Lagbua family of Iragbiji have not at any point in time seek for the removal/dethronement of Oba Abdul-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, instead, we have supported the Palace and the community in all ramification, since Oba Olabomi ascend the throne of our forefathers.
“That neither our Family (Lagbua) Nor Osun State Government has ever asked Oba Olabomi Abdur-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Aragbiji of Iragbiji to vacate the throne of our forefathers. We only asked for justice, which is just the inclusion of Lagbua Family into the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Chieftaincy declaration.
“That there is no reason whatsoever for any right-thinking individual(s), group of individual(s) or Family to cause violence in our town, Iragbiji, on a matter that is not new or strange to any sincere and patriotic Iragbiji Sons and daughters, home and abroad.
“That when a Government led by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola served our family with an injustice, we did not result to violence or take laws into our hand, we continue the struggle in a very peaceful and lawful manner. We thank God that we now have in the State today, the Government of light (Imole) that is ready to shed light on any darkness that had existed in the State before now, we cannot but thank Governor and the Government under the Leadership of Senator ADEMOLA JACKSON NURUDEEN ADELEKE. Lagbua Descendants (who are prominent Sons and Daughters of Iragbiji Land) home and abroad are in joyous and Celebration mode now and we remain grateful to the Government of Light (Imole) that is shining in Osun State.
“That we, the Lagbua Family of Iragbiji call on the entire Peace loving and good people of Iragbiji (home and abroad), the entire people of Osun State and Nigeria at large to appreciate the Osun State Government and the Governor for being courageous to stand by the truth, served justice and halted this age longed injustice done to Lagbua Family of Iragbiji Land.”
Speaking with newsmen, Alhaji Abayomi Adegoke of the Lagbua family noted that the press conference was not intended to attack anyone, including Oba Abdul-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi.
Alhaji Adegoke emphasized that the conference aimed to clarify and show the world the decision of the Osun State executive council regarding the Aragbaji Of Iragbiji chieftaincy declaration, which declared and approved the Lagbua family as a ruling house.
Present at the event were notable family heads, including the Head of Ajibolu Family Compound, Pa Badiru Opatoye Adeyemo, Head of Olupejobi family compound, Alhaji Badiru Adebisi Oyekanmi, Head of Odogun Family compound, Pa Abubakr Opaniyi, Head of Oluode family compound, Pa Opatola Ogunleye Oluode, and Head of Elemo Osho Family Compound.
