This action follows a series of negotiations between the Kaduna State Government and NUT, addressing concerns that had hindered the timely disbursement of the funds. Mubarak Mohammed, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (KASUBEB), confirmed the development during a press conference in Kaduna.
“The release of this fund is a crucial step towards restoring the relationship between the Kaduna State Government and the NUT. Governor Sani’s intervention ensures that the funds meant to support teachers during their service and after retirement are now available,” Mohammed stated.
The N548 million, which had been withheld for some time, will now be managed independently by the NUT. Additionally, all legal proceedings concerning the dispute have been dismissed, paving the way for a fresh start for both parties.
Governor Sani’s administration, since taking office in May 2023, has focused heavily on enhancing the welfare of teachers and improving educational conditions across the state.
“The governor’s leadership in this matter underscores his dedication to not only resolving crises but also to the sustainable development of education and teacher welfare in Kaduna,” Mohammed added.
In response to the governor’s move, Ibrahim Dalhatu, the Chairman of the Kaduna State NUT, expressed appreciation for the settlement.
