Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the legal representative of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has urged for peace in the Southeast region of Nigeria in the wake of the arrest and detention of Simon Ekpa, the self- proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government- in- Exile.....Read Full Article>>

In a statement made available to newsmen in Owerri on Monday, Ejiofor called for unity and reflection among the people of the region as the situation continues to unfold. Ekpa’ s arrest has sparked significant attention, as he has been a prominent figure in the Biafra separatist movement, which advocates for the independence of the Igbo- speaking people.

Ekpa, who operates from abroad, has claimed leadership over a self- declared Biafra government- in- exile, a cause that has gained both support and criticism in equal measure.

Ejiofor, in his statement, noted that he has long maintained that falsehoods, deceit, and criminal activities have a limited lifespan. He emphasised that the truth would eventually prevail, and once it does, the consequences for those involved in these deceptions are inevitable.

He specifically addressed those who continue to hold on to unrealistic promises of a December declaration of Biafran independence, reassuring them that the anticipated event would pass without incident.

” I have always said that the lies, deceit, fraud, and criminality will eventually expire, ” Ejiofor remarked. ” When the truth reaches its breaking point, it becomes unavoidable. ”

He went on to acknowledge the deep sense of marginalisation felt by the Igbo people within Nigeria’ s political system. However, he stressed that the true struggle for the liberation of oppressed peoples must be rooted in peaceful, non- violent means. He condemned the use of violence, fraud, and criminal behaviour as tactics for achieving political goals, asserting that such strategies would ultimately fail.

” Freedom can never be won through such means, ” Ejiofor concluded. ” There’ s no wisdom in cutting off one’ s nose to spite one’ s face. “
