Ayra earned her first RIAA Latin Diamond certification with the song SANTA, a collaboration with Rauw Alejandro and Rvssian. This certification signifies that SANTA has sold over 1 million units in the United States.

Released on April 4th 2024, SANTA is a fusion of Spanish and English lyrics, blending Afrobeat and reggaeton influences. The track has garnered significant international acclaim, reaching the top 20 on Billboard’s US Hot Latin Songs chart and securing the 140th position on the Billboard Global 200 year-end chart for 2024.

This milestone underscores Ayra Starr’s growing influence in the global music industry and her successful expansion into the Latin music market.

What it means to earn diamond RIAA certification

Before, an African artist or someone who does music outside of North and South America could earn an RIAA Diamond certification; it means that the musician had sold over 1 million units of their song in America within the Latino market.

Another important detail is that the song must have been sung using a mix of Spanish and English. Influences of Afrobeats and Reggaeton were found in Ayra Starr’s RIAA-certified song, “Santa”.

The track was released in 2024, as part of the songs on her album The Year I Turned 21. This was Ayra Starr’s second album and was just as successful as her first body of work, Young and Dangerous.

The song’s success in the Latino market and on the Billboard charts demonstrates Ayra Starr’s growing influence in the global music industry.
