The group labelled the reports as ” gutter media propaganda” aimed at discrediting IPOB. In a statement released on Monday, IPOB said, ” Please disregard this gutter media propaganda against IPOB. They will be tired of carrying fake news soonest.”
According to the JTF’ s spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jonah Unuakhalu, the reported operations are part of efforts to ensure safety in the South- east during the festive season. He stated that troops conducted multiple clearance operations across Enugu, Anambra, and Abia States, targeting armed groups and kidnappers.
Mr. Unuakhalu emphasised the importance of public cooperation, urging citizens to provide credible information to support the task force. He noted, ” Remember, security is everybody’ s business. It is not in the hands of security agencies alone. When you see something, say something by calling the JTF Operation UDO KA’ s toll- free line- 193 and press Option 2– to speak directly to Headquarters Operation UDO KA. ”
Enugu State: On 21 December, troops conducted an ambush along Amouka- Umouka Road in Udi Local Government Area. During the operation, one kidnapper was reportedly killed in a firefight, while others fled with injuries. Recovered items included an AK- 47 rifle, two magazines, 17 rounds of ammunition, mobile phones, and cash.
Anambra State: On 16 December, a clearance operation in the Mbosi and Isseke areas of Ihiala Local Government Area reportedly led to the neutralisation of three IPOB members. Items recovered included firearms, ammunition, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The troops also destroyed a shrine allegedly used for fortification by the group.
Abia State: On 14 December, three suspected kidnappers were arrested at Itungwa in Obingwa Local Government Area. The suspects, reportedly operating in a stolen tricycle, were intercepted at a snap checkpoint. Recovered items included firearms, ammunition, and cash.
The military’ s claims have sparked mixed reactions, with some residents applauding the task force’ s efforts while others questioned the veracity of the reports. IPOB, known for its stance on Biafran self- determination, has consistently denied involvement in criminal activities, accusing the government and security agencies of orchestrating false narratives against its members.

Major General Hassan Dada, the JTF’ s Force Commander, urged South- east residents to support security agencies in maintaining peace. He reiterated that public assistance through reliable information could significantly enhance operations.
As the yuletide season approaches, the JTF assured citizens of its commitment to ensuring safety and urged them to report any suspicious activities.
