Adding to the gravity of this incident, subsequent medical findings revealed that Aderemi was HIV positive— a discovery that has deepened the mystery surrounding his death and raised questions about his time within the church.
The details of this distressing event were uncovered by The Eagle Online through a Situation Report (SITREP) submitted by the Idiroko Police Division to the Ogun State Police Command headquarters.
According to the report, Aderemi’ s death was formally reported to the authorities on March 3, 2025, at approximately 9: 00 p. m. The alert came from Pastor Opeyemi Ogungbenga, the leader of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church Movement parish located in Isale Eyo Ilase, Idiroko, where Aderemi had sought refuge and healing.
Sources indicate that Aderemi, originally hailing from Ogbomoso in Oyo State, had been residing at the church since January, participating in an extended spiritual cleansing process aimed at addressing an undisclosed illness. His journey took a fatal turn on March 3, 2025, when he reportedly succumbed at around 7: 00 p. m. while at the General Hospital in Idiroko.
Following his passing, medical tests conducted on his remains confirmed his HIV- positive status— a revelation that has left both the church community and investigators grappling with its implications.
The Ogun State Police Command has officially acknowledged the case, with Chief Superintendent of Police Omolola Odutola, the Command’ s spokesperson, providing confirmation to The Eagle Online on Tuesday.
Aderemi’ s body has since been transferred to the hospital’ s morgue, where it remains pending further examination or arrangements, marking a somber end to his quest for spiritual and physical restoration.
