A former governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, is spearheading efforts to forge an alliance between northern elites and southern political heavyweights ahead of the 2027 general elections. Sources who spoke with Punch revealed that former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Head of State Yakubu Gowon are among those backing the initiative.
