“Waste management is a major challenge, not just in Rivers State but across the globe. We have been dealing with it over the years and have done our best,” he said. Despite previous efforts, he criticized past abuses within the system.

“People take government funds, assign their friends as street sweepers, and then suddenly start acquiring hotels and expensive cars,” he remarked.

Fubara called for a new approach that recognizes waste management as a profitable industry. “We must look beyond the old ways and explore the economic benefits. Waste management is a sector with immense financial opportunities and job creation potential,” he asserted.
