Farotimi, known for his outspoken advocacy, was moved to tears during a live video as he expressed heartfelt gratitude to Nigerians who stood by him during his defamation case with legal luminary Afe Babalola.
The defamation suit stemmed from Farotimi’s book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System, where he accused Babalola of contributing to corruption within the judiciary.
During the live broadcast, Farotimi became visibly emotional while recounting the overwhelming support he received from Nigerians throughout his legal ordeal.
“Because you spoke, #Nigerian couldn’t happen to me,” Farotimi said.
His words reflected his relief and appreciation for public solidarity during his legal struggles.
Reacting to the video, Odinkalu praised Farotimi’s courage and integrity and acknowledged Farotimi’s efforts in exposing systemic issues in Nigeria’s judiciary and standing up for justice.
“Thank you @DeleFarotimi for standing in the pass for us all. May the Almighty prosper your generations,” Odinkalu wrote.
