All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State for allegedly renting a crowd for their rally, describing them as “Papalolo.”

Papalolo is the stage name of Ayo Ogunsina, a renowned Nigerian comedian who was part of the Awada Group. He performed alongside Tajudeen Gbadamosi (aka Jacob) and Kayode Olaiya (aka Aderupoko) on Nigerian Television throughout most of the 1980s.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator shared this on his Facebook post on Saturday while reacting to the rally organised by the ruling APC to receive defectors at Murtala Square.

Taking a swipe at the party, Lawal challenged the APC to conduct elections in at least one ward within the state to test its popularity. He criticised the party for deceiving Nigerians by assembling a rented crowd for the so-called rally.

The post reads, “APC is like Papalolo in Kaduna State. If you truly knew you had the support of your ‘rented crowd’, why didn’t you allow the conduct of election in at least one ward within the state? Even the governor could not cast his vote at his polling station during the time.”

The rally was also attended by Governor Uba Sani, who assured new party members of equal rights and privileges.

It’s worth noting that there has been unrest within the APC following an outburst by Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past governor.

El-Rufai lambasted Governor Uba Sani for defending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging that Tinubu received N150 billion from the federal government.

At a forum attended by prominent opposition leaders, El-Rufai criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of actively working to weaken opposition parties and threatening the country’s democratic system.

The former governor, a founding member of the APC, criticised the party’s governance style, describing it as a ‘national emergency.’
