Farotimi: While You Were Away, Your Book Has Been Giving Them Sleepless Nights

Ibe made this statement following the release of activist lawyer Dele Farotimi, who was arrested earlier this month. Ibe celebrated Farotimi’s resilience, describing him as unbroken, unbowed, and uncommon.

He welcomed Farotimi back ahead of Christmas and praised his book, Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System, which gained attention during his detention, according to Ibe, the book sheds light on flaws in Nigeria’s justice system, making it a bestseller.

Farotimi was arrested on allegations of defaming Afe Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, following his arrest, he was remanded in a correctional center in Ado Ekiti.

His case drew public attention, with supporters describing the charges as an attack on free speech.

Last week, a Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti granted Farotimi bail of N30 million, he was released on Tuesday after fulfilling the conditions.

His arrival at the court earlier was marked by heavy security presence, reflecting the sensitivity of the case.

Ibe, in his statement, prayed for justice, invoking Amadioha, an Igbo deity, to act against those working against the interests of Nigerians.

“Unbroken, unbowed, uncommon. Welcome home ahead of Christmas, @DeleFarotimi.”

“While you were away, your book, ‘Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System’ (that has been giving them sleepless nights), became a bestseller.”

“The truth shall surely slay the evil that has overrun Nigeria. May Amadioha fire the enemies of the people,” he said.
