AC Milan dropped more valuable points in their quest to move back towards the Champions League spots, drawing 1-1 with Cagliari at San Siro.

In a remarkably similar fashion to earlier in the season, Milan followed up a huge win by drawing with the relegation-threatened Sardinians. Last year it was after the 3-1 win at Real Madrid that they drew 3-3 on the island, and last night they let a lead slip again.

As was to be expected, the Italian media have focused on the fact that the Rossoneri were unable to take advantage of Juventus and Inter also drawing, with the Supercoppa effect having worn off quickly.

La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Rashford right away. Milan stopped by Cagliari, the club is taking cover. One goal is not enough. Maignan misses. We accelerate for the Englishman. Conceicao tough: ‘I saw the worst first half since I’ve been coaching’.”

Corriere dello Sport: “Milan crash, Cagliari proud. Morata breaks the deadlock, Zortea responds, Caprile super.”

Tuttosport: “Milan stayed in Riyadh: Maignan, what a gift. Cagliari hold on at San Siro.”

QS: “A rage of the Devil. Morata scores, Maignan misses: Milan-Cagliari ends 1-1.”
