Similar to the Tundra, both GMC models undergo a right-hand drive conversion before being marketed in South Africa. This process happens without the direct support or official backing of the parent company, General Motors. Despite this independent approach, Rospa provides a standard three-year or 50,000-kilometer warranty on both vehicles for buyer peace of mind.

GMC Sierra 2500 HD: Power and Premium Features

The Sierra 2500 HD is being offered exclusively in the high-specification Denali Ultimate grade. Under the hood is GMC’s renowned 6.6-litre Duramax turbodiesel V8 engine. This powertrain produces a formidable 350kW and 1,322Nm of torque, channeled through a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission. Buyers can choose between rear-wheel drive or a four-wheel-drive configuration.

This model boasts serious capability, with a claimed towing capacity of 10,206 kg and a payload of 1,382 kg. Rospa states the bakkie can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.4 seconds. The Denali Ultimate trim ensures a premium experience with a 13.4-inch infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12-speaker Bose sound system.

Comfort is enhanced with heated and ventilated electric front seats and heated rear seats. The extensive safety and tech suite includes a Head-Up Display, a surround-view camera system, Blind Spot Monitoring, Trailer Blind Spot Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control. A unique backwards-facing loadbin camera assists with trailer hitching.

Luggage capacity is equally impressive, ranging from 1,163 litres to 4,097 litres.

It will be sold solely in the well-appointed Denali trim. This brings standard features like 22-inch alloy wheels, a massive 16.8-inch infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and an 18-speaker Bose sound system. Retractable side-steps and air suspension are also included.

Initially, the Yukon XL will be available with a 3.0-litre Duramax straight-six turbodiesel engine, producing 206kW and 624Nm. A 6.2-litre petrol V8 option, rated at 313kW and 623Nm, is scheduled to arrive at a later date. A 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard across the lineup.
