ASUU criticized the government’s efforts in 2024 as inadequate, citing neglect of universities, withheld salaries, unpaid allowances, and unfulfilled agreements on funding and reforms.
ASUU also opposed proposed tax reforms that would reduce TETFund’s revenue, threatening infrastructure development in tertiary institutions. The union urged the government to prioritize education funding, review salaries, and sign the renegotiated Nimi Briggs agreement to address the crisis.
ASUU stressed that failure to act could lead to further unrest in the university system, urging its members to prepare for potential challenges in the new year.
