The directive which is with immediate effect is contained in a wireless message dated Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and addressed to all zonal and state commands in the police force.
The police wireless message titled CB:4001/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL.121/104 was obtained by SaharaReporters on Thursday. The police authorities said violation of the direction will attract severe sanctions.
It reads: INGENPOL has observed with concern x prevalent practice of personnel wearing dark glasses while in uniform x this attitude reflects poorly on the Force x deemed unacceptable x consequently x INGENPOL directs that henceforth x all police personnel x should refrain from wearing dark glasses x while in uniform x violation of this directive will attract severe disciplinary action x you are to make this subject of lecture x.
