In an interview with Symfoni TV, Tanko said such statements cast doubt on the integrity and accountability of Nigeria’s key security bodies, including the DSS, police, and NDI, highlighting potential flaws in the nation’s leadership and law enforcement approach.

He warned that the ability of influential individuals to engage freely with armed groups under official oversight reflects deeper issues of poor planning, uncoordinated tactics, and weak national leadership rather than just a criminal challenge.
