The suspects attempted to persuade a pregnant woman to undergo an abortion for ritual purposes, offering her N30 million in exchange. The trio approached a resident of Rafin- Yashi, Minna, with an offer to buy her six- month- old foetus for a ritual, but the woman had other plans. Pretending to agree, she played along until she felt endangered, then she quickly alerted the police.
Police officers swiftly tracked down the suspects and apprehended them near a hotel along Eastern Bye- Pass, Minna. ” They offered me millions to sacrifice my unborn child” , the woman tells police after the suspects were apprehended.
The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, revealed that the suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation. They admitted that they had a buyer, identified as Gbege, who is currently on the run and had offered a whopping N30 million for the unborn child.
In his statement, Abiodun said, ” the suspects conspired among themselves and attempted to take a pregnant victim from the Rafin- Yashi area of Minna to one Gbege, who is presently at large”.
” They lured the victim with a promise to pay her thirty million naira to terminate her six- month- old pregnancy for ritual purposes” , it read.
The police are currently working to track down and arrest the suspect, Gbege.
