Federline Says “It’s Time to Sound the Alarm”

In the book, the 47-year-old former dancer and DJ claims that his sons, Sean Preston (20) and Jayden James (19), have made troubling observations about their mother, alleging that Spears sometimes watched them sleep while holding a knife. Federline reportedly writes, “It’s become impossible to pretend everything’s OK. From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we’re getting close to the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change.”

He added that his biggest fear is that their sons “will be left holding the pieces” if the situation continues unchecked.

Britney’s Conservatorship and the “Free Britney” Movement

Spears, 43, was under a 13-year conservatorship controlled by her father, Jamie Spears, which ended in 2021. While she has described that period as traumatic, Jamie has maintained that his actions were in her best interest. Federline acknowledges in his memoir that the “Free Britney” movement started from “a good place” but argues it ultimately caused more harm than good.

“All those people who put so much effort into that should now put the same energy into the ‘Save Britney’ movement,” he reportedly writes. “Because this is no longer about freedom — it’s about survival.”

Conflicting Accounts and Past Struggles

Federline’s memoir also revisits past struggles, including a 2008 incident where Spears was placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold after refusing to return her children per custody orders. He writes, “It was one of the hardest nights of my life. I felt sick over what she was going through — this was someone I had loved, someone I had built a life with.”

In her own memoir, The Woman in Me, Spears described the same night differently, saying she was simply desperate to keep her children for “a few more hours.” She also denied substance abuse issues, contrary to Federline’s claims of drug and alcohol use during their marriage, which ended in 2007.

Federline on Britney and Their Sons

Despite the turmoil, Federline insists he has “never been against Britney” and continues to support their sons’ efforts to maintain a relationship with her. “When I really reflect on everything that’s happened,” he told the Times, “my kids do not know the woman that I married. And I’ve spent two decades trying to bridge that gap.”

Representatives for Spears have not yet responded to the claims made in Federline’s book.
