Commissioner Mkhwanazi made the announcement during Thursday’s provincial safety season launch event. He emphasized that multiple law enforcement agencies stand ready to address criminal activity firmly throughout the holiday period.

The coastal province expects significant visitor numbers as tourists arrive for seasonal celebrations. Authorities particularly anticipate increased movement along KZN’s borders with neighboring eSwatini, Lesotho, and Mozambique.

Mkhwanazi stated that lawlessness would not be tolerated in any form. This warning specifically applies to high-traffic areas and border regions where increased movement typically occurs during December.

“We’ve developed a plan to police this influx and movement,” Mkhwanazi explained. The strategy involves close coordination between police, traffic departments, and the Road Traffic Inspectorate alongside other security stakeholders.

The police commissioner directly addressed motorists using KZN’s road networks during the coming months. He urged all drivers to respect traffic regulations and obey lawful instructions from enforcement officers without hesitation.

Mkhwanazi delivered a strong message against bribery and corruption within law enforcement ranks. He specifically warned motorists against offering bribes to officers while encouraging public reporting of any corruption incidents.

“Take the details of that traffic officer or law enforcement officer who is not doing what he is supposed to do but is asking for a bribe,” Mkhwanazi instructed citizens. This forms part of broader efforts to maintain integrity within security services.

The security preparations account for several major events scheduled across the province during the festive period. These include a significant football match that will draw substantial crowds to stadium venues.

Police authorities confirmed they have allocated sufficient resources across all KZN districts. The comprehensive security plan aims to maintain order and ensure visitor safety throughout the holiday season.

Law enforcement agencies have conducted extensive preparations for the anticipated seasonal challenges. These measures build upon previous security operations during high-volume tourism periods in the province.

The security strategy includes visible policing, intelligence-driven operations, and coordinated responses to incidents. Authorities aim to create a secure environment for both residents and visitors during celebrations.

Commissioner Mkhwanazi’s announcement reflects provincial authorities’ commitment to holiday safety. The integrated approach involves multiple government departments working in concert to prevent criminal activity.

As tourists begin arriving in KwaZulu-Natal, police visibility will increase significantly at border posts and popular destinations. The security enhancements will remain in effect throughout the festive season until visitor numbers normalize.

The police commissioner concluded his announcement by reaffirming law enforcement’s dedication to public safety. He encouraged community cooperation with security forces to ensure a peaceful and enjoyable holiday season for all. ...Click to Read More >>➤
