Man Accuses LASTMA Officers Of N100, 000 Extortion In Lagos (Photo)
![](https://spazr.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Man-Accuses-LASTMA-Officers-Of-N100-000-Extortion-In-Lagos.jpeg)
Officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) have been called out by an X user, Oluyemi Fasipe.
He accused some LASTMA officers of allegedly extorting him to the tune of N100, 000 for allegedly driving against traffic in the state.
Fasipe who narrated his ordeal on his X handle (formerly Twitter), @yemiefash narrated how he was forced to part with N100, 000 before he could be allowed to leave the scene.
According to him, the LASTMA officials told him the incident has been captured on camera, but will be deleted once he pays the N100,000 bribe.
“Allow me to recount an incident involving some LASTMA officials in Lagos on Tuesday. While attempting to meet up with a friend on the Island, my driver inadvertently drove the wrong way. Upon being stopped by the officers, they requested that the driver exit the vehicle.
“Sensing trouble upon hearing the term “one way,” I also stepped out to provide an explanation. I informed them that we were from Ondo State, Ilu-Oke and that the driver was unfamiliar with the area, emphasising that it was not intentional.
“After a brief discussion, they suggested I speak with one of them, who informed me that we had been captured by a camera and offered to assist us in exchange for a bribe to delete the footage.
“Despite finding their deception amusing, we ended up paying N100k through a nearby POS operator.
“While I have a video recording of the incident, I have chosen not to share it, as I lack the motivation to pursue the matter further. It is evident that Nigerians are the major problem of Nigeria.”
When contacted, LASTMA’s Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Taofiq Adebayo, said the information captured on the TMS camera cannot be deleted by any officer.
“We had sent him messages since yesterday to furnish us with more details on the incident to further aid our investigation but no response yet from him. Again, as claimed, information on captured by the TMS camera cannot be deleted by any Officer,” Adebayo stated.

I Was Introduced to Acting at 13 – Osas Ighodaro
![](https://spazr.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/I-Was-Introduced-to-Acting-at-13-–-Osas-Ighodaro.jpg)
Actress Osas Ighodaro has revealed interesting details about her acting journey.
She opened up that she was introduced to acting at the age of 13.
She stated this in a recent interview on Pulse One-on-One, while reflecting on her childhood, upbringing, and passion for acting.
Born and raised in New York, Osas emphasised the strong Nigerian influence in her household, which shaped her values and identity.
She said her parents encouraged her to remember her family’s heritage and behave accordingly.
“I grew up in New York, born and raised with my siblings and my parents. And even though I grew up there, I grew up in a very Naija household. Even outside the house, it’s like, ‘Remember who your family is and behave yourself, but yeah, it was a beautiful upbringing”, she said.
According to Osas, her journey into acting began at 13, when she was introduced to acting classes through a modeling school scholarship.
“I had to do a lot of convincing and crying, but I think I’m also stubborn; I’m a strong-headed individual when I want something.
“I had low self-esteem growing up, and they put me in modeling school. I went through that experience, and after that, the president of that school offered me a scholarship to take acting classes. I wasn’t exposed to acting till I was 13, then I took my first acting class, and I never turned back since, and I was like, ‘What is this? I want to indulge in this craft of acting.’ So I’ve never turned back since.”
She said she immediately fell in love with the craft and persisted in pursuing it, despite her parents’ initial disapproval but her determination and strong will ultimately led her to succeed in the entertainment industry”, she said.

It’s Wrong to Reply With ‘Seen’ After Receiving Financial Help
![](https://spazr.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Its-Wrong-to-Reply-With-Seen-After-Receiving-Financial-Help.jpg)
Veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has sent a message to Nigerians.
He emphasized on the need for gratitude.
He spoke against people not showing gratitude when they receive favour or help.
Kanayo specifically pointed out instances where people send money to others, only to receive a curt “seen” in response.
He urged his followers to cultivate gratitude, noting that unspoken appreciation is equivalent to ingratitude.
He wrote:
“Hello, my friends, I have one question. Why are people very ungrateful?”
“You do somebody a favour by sending him or her money and the person receives it and sends you a text saying ‘seen’. Seen? Come on! Do you think it’s your right? That’s an inheritance mentality; people are like this and it doesn’t show that you are ungrateful.
“Look, gratitude unspoken is ingratitude spoken. It’s not your right so learn to be grateful for whatever someone does for you. That way, the person will be encouraged to do more. Stop being selfish; be grateful because nobody owes you anything. Have a beautiful week ahead”, he said on Instagram.

NDLEA Arrest Wanted Drug Baron, Recovers Meth, Precursors, Guns
![](https://spazr.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/NDLEA-Arrest-Wanted-Drug-Baron-Recovers-Meth-Precursors-Guns.jpg)
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has busted a drug cartel behind the production and distribution of deadly psychoactive substance, methamphetamine, popularly called ‘Mkpuru mmiri’.
Spokesman of the agency, Femi Babafemi said the successful operation followed the arrest of the leader of the syndicate, 42-year-old Joachin Chikaodi Mbonu and his associate in his mansion tucked in his Umuomi village, Uzogba-Ezenomi autonomous community, Ikeduru local government area of Imo State.
“The cartel with operational bases in Imo and Rivers state became a target of the Agency following intelligence indicating it is responsible for the distribution of substantial quantity of methamphetamine in South East, South South and other parts of the country.
“After weeks of surveillance, officers of a special operations unit of the Agency on Friday 5th July 2024, tracked and traced the drug lord to his village mansion in Imo state where he was caught with a member of his cartel, Kenneth Chibuike Ofoegbu, 34, with different quantities of methamphetamine, its precursor chemicals, a pump action gun and cartridges recovered.
“Exhibits recovered from the house include: 419.99 grams of methamphetamine; 750 grams of iodine, a precursor chemical for meth; 500 grams of sodium bicarbonate, a precursor chemical for meth; two electronic weighing scales and a pump action gun with four cartridges.
“The operatives moved swiftly to another of Mbonu’s hideout located at 11 Redemption Avenue, Port Harcourt, Rivers state where they recovered additional exhibits: 750 grams of processed sodium bicarbonate; 170 grams of plain sodium bicarbonate and 75 grams of meth.
“Another raid in the home of one of Mbonu’s associates, Odoemenam Pedro Chinedu, currently at large, at Njaba LGA, Imo state, led to the recovery of another pump action gun with 25 cartridges, among other items.
“While the kingpin cools his heels in custody, two of his mansions in Imo state have been marked for possible forfeiture to the federal government.
“Mbonu had escaped from South Africa where he lived for years and mastered the art of cooking methamphetamine after he came under investigation for drug dealings.
“Upon his return to Nigeria, he continued the criminal trade by setting up clandestine laboratories in remote villages to shield his nefarious activities”.
Reacting to the successful taking down of the meth syndicate, Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) commended the officers and men involved in the multi-pronged operation.
He stated that the manner the interdiction was carried out should send a strong signal to other cartels that there’s no hiding place for them in any part of the country.

As A Woman In Nigeria, A Man Will Always be Right If He Is Richer Than You
![](https://spazr.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/As-A-Woman-In-Nigeria-A-Man-Will-Always-be.jpg)
Carolyna Hutchings
Popular Nigerian actress, Carolyna Hutchings has advised women to focus on their development so that they can be financially secure.
She stated this while sharing her thoughts on relationships and financial independence for women in Nigeria.
Her comments come amid the ongoing custody dispute between Afrobeats star Davido and Sophia Momodu over their daughter, Imade Adeleke.
In an Instagram post, the 37-year-old actress stated, “As a woman living in Nigeria, as long as that man is assumed to be richer than you, he will always be right.” .
She advised women to focus on their own development – financially, spiritually, and mentally – to avoid potential exploitation in relationships.
Hutchings encouraged women to take their time in relationships, saying, “Don’t rush into anything, so you don’t rush out of it or stay in it while dying in sorrow.”
She emphasized the importance of self-love and protection, urging women to be discerning about who they allow into their lives.
The actress suggested that by achieving personal and financial security, women would be better positioned to choose partners who are “kind, loving and caring.”
Her comments highlight the complex dynamics of relationships and gender roles in Nigerian society, particularly when there are significant financial disparities between partners.
While Hutchings didn’t directly reference the Davido-Momodu situation, her timing and message appear to be in response to the high-profile custody dispute, offering broader advice to women in similar situations.

You Need Wisdom To Be A Serial Baby Father
![](https://spazr.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/You-Need-Wisdom-To-Be-A-Serial-Baby-Father.jpg)
Isaac Fayose, the brother of former Ekiti Governor, Ayo Fayose, has advised Afrobeats star, Davido on how to deal with his ongoing child custody battle with his baby mama, Sophia Momodu.
In a post on his Instagram page, he stated that wisdom is important in dealing with multiple baby mamas.
He stated that as a man with multiple baby mamas, he tries to please their mothers so they can vouch for him with their children.
Speaking from experience, the media personality said, “You need wisdom to be a serial baby father. When I was younger, I used to love my children more than their mothers because I wasn’t married to their mothers. But now that I’m mature, I love their mothers more than the kids. You know why? When I show their mothers love, they will send the children back to me.
“When you try to love children more than their mother, the mother will tell them that you’re a deadbeat father. It’s not easy. I’m a serial baby father; six baby mamas and two wives spread across four continents. And I want all of them to love me and I want to play a role in their lives. I don’t go for the children, I go for their mothers.
“Davido, may God help you and give you wisdom to handle it. It’s not just about money, you have to be patient too.”

A 2-year-old boy, Nakyzi Odums, has been confirmed dead after he accidentally shot himself in a Walmart parking lot while his parents shopped for fireworks.
Odums’ parents left him alone in their vehicle on the afternoon before the 4th of July as they went to purchase fireworks at a nearby stand, reported WALB.
Witnesses said that his parents heard a gunshot and ran to their car and found him with a wound in the chest.
The toddler was rushed to a hospital in Douglas, Georgia, and then to a trauma centre in another state.
On Saturday, July 6, the Douglas Police Department wrote on Facebook that it “regrets to inform the community that the young child who suffered an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound on July 3, 2024, has sadly passed away this afternoon” at the trauma center in Jacksonville, Florida.
“Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident,” the police department wrote.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.”
“He was definitely the light and love for his parents Sam Odums and Laileighauna Parks,” his grandmother Candi Brinson wrote. “He smiled brightly, wholeheartedly, loved unconditionally.”
It was not immediately known if the parents would face any charges in connection with the fatal shooting. There were no indications they had been arrested.
Douglas Police Chief Brannen Pruette told The Independent: “You’re allowed to have a gun in the car, but when there’s a child involved, you need to make sure that the gun is secure so that the child doesn’t have access to it.”
