The celebrity designer shared her excitement on Instagram, admitting she didn’t know how to react to such a milestone and expressing her gratitude to her fans.

Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence has debunked allegations made against him by a wanted terrorist kingpin Bello Turji, stating that he tackled banditry during his tenure as governor of the state.

Turji accused Matawalle, a former Governor of Zamfara State, of empowering terrorists during his tenure.

Turji, who has been a central figure in the region’s violence, stated that Matawalle’s amnesty scheme, which provided financial rewards to bandits who surrendered, ultimately backfired and escalated insecurity in the state.

He also claimed that many bandits used financial incentives to bolster their operations instead of surrendering their arms as agreed.

However, Matawalle, through his media consultants on Sunday, denied the allegations, describing them as unfounded lies deliberately concocted against him.

A rejoinder signed by Deyemi Saka, said the cache of arms recovered from the terrorists was handed over to relevant security agencies of government.

Matawalle also accused his successor, Governor Dauda Lawal, of being close to terrorists.

He claimed there are also videos in circulation that captured wild jubilation in the camps of bandits celebrating the electoral victory of Lawal, pledging loyalty to him and reminding him to fulfil his promises to them in return for their support for him.

He said, “Our attention has been drawn to a video shared on the X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook page of your media organisation in which baseless, malicious, unfounded, mischievous and deliberate concocted lies were told against the Honourable Minister of State for Defense, H.E Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle.

“We are not unmindful of the sustained attacks on the person, integrity, and patriotic sense of duty of our client. What we find disheartening and despicable is the brazen disregard for public safety and national security.

“While the video speaks to its discredibility, it is pertinent to address the outlandish allegations made by Bello Turji, a wanted kingpin of banditry.

“It is noteworthy that the efforts of the honourable minister of state, while as Governor of Zamfara State between 2019 and 2023, saw banditry and all other sundry of criminality tackled head-on.

“His demonstration of the strength of Character by insisting he was not going to negotiate with Bandits after the closure of the amnesty window for them to lay down their arms, and strong insistence of Bello Turji doing such is enough motivation for the hatchet man job is he doing.

“All arms seized, recovered, and received from bandits were submitted at Government House Gusau, and there is a record for it. The Government House does not have an armoury, and it is also on record that the cache of arms was handed over to relevant security agencies of government.

“And in a total breach to the constitution he swore to uphold, Governor Dauda Lawal can be said to be in bed with this criminal element and giving him justification for his numerous acts of criminality.

“There are also videos in circulation that captured wild jubilation in the camps of these bandits celebrating the electoral victory of Governor Dauda Lawal and pledging loyalty to him and reminding him to fulfil his promises to them in return of their support for him.

“While we admit these damning allegations are attempts to distract and discredit our client, it is just one of such attempts that could not deter Dr. Matawalle from carrying out his duties in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and also spur him to be more committed to his assigned task and stop at nothing to see that peace is restored across the country, and we have a stable national security and public safety.

“We urge prominent and eminent Nigerians to desist from resorting to using matters of insecurity to settle political rifts and gain notorious popularity.”

Nigerian vlogger and entrepreneur, Toke Makinwa has lashed out at married celebrities that judged her in the past.

In a recent Instagram post, Makinwa addressed unnamed women who claim to be married but remain available to other men.

She expressed her decision to show grace despite their past criticisms.

Rev Ignatius Kaigama

Most Rev Ignatius Kaigama, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Diocese, has appealed to Nigerian leaders to confess their acts of injustice and corruption so that the country can be a better place.

The cleric who threw the challenge in his message delivered at St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Parish in Apo, Abuja, on Sunday July 21, drew reference to the open confession and apology by a Kenyan official in a recent video clip in which he promised to return all properties and money he acquired through corrupt means.

While delivering is sermon, the cleric said;

“How I wish in Nigeria our present and past political leaders will willingly come forward with such courage to tell the truth, and like Zacchaeus to honestly confess their acts of injustice and corruption committed against the ordinary Nigerians citizens.

Just imagine the impact, if beginning from our Local Government Chairmen, State Assembly members, commissioners, governors, House of Representative members, Senators, Ministers, Presidents, leaders of various security arms, the Judiciary, etc past and present, they accept to make this type of open confession and express their willingness to return whatever they have taken obviously not as part of their legitimate earnings but corruptly stolen from the people they were/are elected or appointed to serve.

Should this be honestly and transparently done, we will never need to borrow billions of Dollars from anywhere; hunger and poverty as currently experienced will find Nigeria a hostile place to exist, and our social infrastructure and amenities will be competing with those in the so-called “first world.” Our embassies around the world, will be overcrowded as foreigners will be clamouring and competing for visas to come to Nigeria.

Our Governors and Ministers don’t need to gallivant abroad in the name of wooing investors. Nigerians will be proud and happy to walk anywhere in the world with their heads held very high.

May God give the political leaders in charge of our patrimony and indeed all Nigerians, whether high or low, the heart to always work for the common good.

Through the intercession of Our Mother Mary and St. Joseph her spouse, may our leaders imitate the servant-leadership of Christ and lead the people entrusted to their care in the way God wants.”

Kaigama said he decided to transcribe the video clip of the Kenyan official and reproduce for his sermon because it depicts what true God-fearing leaders whether political, traditional, or religious should do or be. He said such leaders are sensitive to the needs of people and not the people wallowing in poverty while the few rich swim in the ocean of luxury at the expense of the poor citizens.

The Kenyan official had said;

“Good evening the people of Kenya. The constitution of Kenya of 2010, article 1, sub article 1, says: all sovereign power belongs to the people and shall only be exercised in accordance with the constitution. Today I tender my resignation as a cabinet secretary in the government of Kenya. I want to offer my heart-felt apology to the people of Kenya for the greed, high-handedness, selfishness, arrogance, nepotism, tribalism and all the bad things that we have done to you the in last two years. When we came to power, we called ourselves shareholders and decided that most Kenyans are not part of the government; are no longer part of the state and do not have any human rights. We went ahead and received bribes from all over the world, and especially, from Dubai.

We bought very expensive watches, some as expensive as one million Kenya’s Shillings equivalence in Dollars. We bought belts worth 50,000 shillings, and we made sure that citizens know how expensive we have become.

In a country where poor families cannot pay their children’s school fees, we were wallowing in luxury. I want to sincerely apologize and I want to say today that I am ready to give out all the bribes that I have received for the last two years; all the property that I have now, which can be traced back to the bribes I have received, will be surrendered to the state tomorrow, early in the morning.

Should I get a chance to serve the people of Kenya again, I will stop the greed, I will stop the arrogance. But most importantly, I will be accountable to the people of Kenya. To the Police High Command, the Inspector General, who also tendered his resignation, I want to urge you to take Kenyans to all the graves where the bodies are hidden. It is time for accountability. Thank you, dear Kenyans.”

 

The tyres of an Abuja-bound Max Airline aircraft, NGL1649, a Boeing 737 with registration 5N-ADB, burst while the plane was attempting to take off from the Yola Airport in Adamawa State.

The aircraft, which had 119 passengers and six crew members on board, lost six tyres during the aborted take-off on Sunday evening.

According to the airline’s Director of Public and Consumer Protection, Bimbo Oladeji, the aircraft had been cleared for take-off, and during the take-off roll, a loud bang was heard, signalling the loss of two tyres.

However, while attempting to taxi off the runway, the other tyres also burst, totally disabling the aircraft.

Luckily, no injury was recorded owing to the accident and an investigation has commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“This evening, Max Air’s flight NGL1649, a Boeing 737 with registration 5N-ADB, carrying 119 passengers and six crew members, was cleared for takeoff from Yola Airport en route to Abuja,” she said in a statement late Sunday.

“During the takeoff roll, a loud bang was heard, identified as the bursting of the rear gear tyres. Initially, two tyres burst. While attempting to taxi off the runway, the remaining two tyres also burst, rendering the aircraft completely disabled.

“Fortunately, no injuries were reported. A go-team, led by NSIB Director General Captain Alex Badeh Jr., will visit the incident site tomorrow morning to conduct an investigation,” Oladeji said.
