Intelligence-Led Operation Prevents Crime

KZN police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo confirmed the arrests were the result of an intelligence-driven operation. The suspects face charges of murder, attempted murder, and the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Ngcobo detailed that on October 21, 2025, members of the Crime Intelligence Unit gathered critical information on individuals wanted for the murders of Sibongiseni Mkhize and Squmane Gasa. The two victims were shot and killed on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, in the Embo area.
This intelligence was immediately relayed to the Provincial Task Team, which swiftly moved on the KwaNgcolosi location. Upon arrival, officers found the five men inside the house. A subsequent search of the property led to the recovery of a firearm and ammunition.

Suspects Linked to Multiple Crimes

Preliminary investigations revealed a chilling detail: the suspects were actively planning to commit a murder when police intervened. This intelligence-driven operation successfully averted another potential tragedy.
