In a statement released on Sunday through his media aide, Oluwatosin Osho, Primate Ayodele disclosed that plans are underway to kidnap emirs and attack rural communities, particularly between December 2024 and February 2025.

According to Ayodele, the threats extend to the country’ s agricultural sector, with a spike in attacks on farmers expected during this period. He urged security operatives to intensify efforts to mitigate these threats and protect vulnerable groups.

” There will be attacks against emirs, farmers, and palaces across the country. They are planning to kidnap emirs and farmers between December and February next year, ” the statement read.

Despite the grim warnings, Primate Ayodele also expressed optimism regarding the Nigerian military’ s capacity to address the security challenges posed by bandits and insurgents. He predicted that the armed forces would record significant victories over the next few months, including neutralizing high- ranking members of extremist groups such as Boko Haram, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), and the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).

” The Nigerian army will do so well in combating these bandits. I see some Boko Haram, ESN, and ISWAP leaders being taken out by the military. Some of them will be arrested within this period too, ” Ayodele added.

The cleric’ s statements underscore the escalating insecurity across Nigeria, as banditry and insurgency continue to plague various regions. While he did not provide specific details about the anticipated attacks, Ayodele’ s comments reflect widespread concerns about the vulnerability of traditional institutions and the agricultural sector.
