The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has moved swiftly to debunk a viral social media rumor claiming beneficiaries will receive double payments. The agency labeled the information as false and warned it is causing unnecessary panic among millions of vulnerable citizens who depend on social grants.

On Wednesday, Sassa expressed increasing concern over the rapid spread of this false information across online platforms.
