Accused Reports Fatigue After Lengthy Questioning

Sibiya, who is accused of acting as a lookout during the fatal shooting of Meyiwa at the home of singer Kelly Khumalo in Vosloorus in October 2014, spent a second day on the witness stand. His testimony came under intense scrutiny as defence lawyer Advocate Charles Mnisi pressed for specific details about his 2020 arrest and alleged police assaults.

Mnisi asked Sibiya to provide exact names, times, and descriptions of officers involved, but the accused reportedly began to make errors in his responses. Mnisi cautioned him, stating that exhaustion could negatively affect his testimony.

Defence Calls for Early Adjournment

Concerned about Sibiya’s state, Mnisi addressed the court: “If you are tired, you are going to hamper your case; you must mention to the court that your energy levels are down.”

Responding to his lawyer, Sibiya admitted to being fatigued and formally requested an adjournment until Wednesday. Presiding Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng granted the request, allowing proceedings to resume the following day with Sibiya expected to continue his testimony.

The trial continues to draw national attention as South Africans await clarity on who was responsible for the murder of the beloved Bafana Bafana captain.
