Table Mountain Competes for World’s Top Tourist Attraction
Table Mountain has been shortlisted in the highly competitive “World’s Leading Tourist Attraction” category. While the landmark has previously secured the African regional title five times, most recently in 2022, it has yet to claim the global honor.
This year, Table Mountain faces formidable competition from eighteen other world-class destinations. The list of nominees includes global wonders like Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the United States’ Grand Canyon National Park, Peru’s Machu Picchu, Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro, Canada’s Niagara Falls, India’s Taj Mahal, and Greece’s Acropolis of Athens.
Aerial Cableway Vies for Cable Car Supremacy
The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) is competing for the title of “World’s Leading Cable Car Ride.” This marks the cableway’s fifth nomination in this category, having narrowly lost to Armenia’s Wings of Tatev in the previous year’s competition.
TMACC now has another opportunity to claim the top spot against seven international contenders. The cableway will compete against Vietnam’s Cable Car at Sun World Ba Na Hills, the United States’ Disney Skyliner Cable Car, Bolivia’s Mi Teleférico, Brazil’s Parque Bondinho Pão de Açúcar, Canada’s PEAK 2 PEAK 360, New Zealand’s Skyline Queenstown, and the defending champion, Armenia’s Wings of Tatev.
World Travel Awards Recognition Brings Pride
Wahida Parker, Managing Director of TMACC, expressed profound gratitude for the dual nominations. She described the recognition as “an incredible honor” within the travel industry.
