Bishop Odedeji made this assertion during his homily on Christmas Day at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Cathedral Church in Ikeja, Lagos. Speaking on the topic, “The Blessing of His Birth,” the cleric highlighted the historical and spiritual significance of Jesus’ birth, which he said even philosophers agree is unparalleled. “The birth of Jesus is the fulfillment of prophecy,” Bishop Odedeji said, referencing scripture to support his message. “His birth was prophesied about 700 years before He was born. That God brought this prophecy to pass is an indication that, no matter how long it takes, God’s promises for His people will always come to fulfillment.”

The bishop enumerated several blessings that have accrued to humanity through the birth of Jesus, beginning with the assurance of salvation and redemption.

“Jesus’ birth reminds us that all of us would have been lost,” he said. “His birth reconciled us back to our Maker.”

Bishop Odedeji also stressed the power inherent in Jesus’ name, which he said is a vital gift to humanity.

“The name brings salvation. The Bible makes us know that whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Jesus’ name represents the authority of God and is available to us to use against any force of darkness.”

The bishop further elaborated on how Jesus’ birth has brought hope of eternal life and peace of mind to humanity.

“Nobody can be proud of peace or boast of peace when Jesus, the Prince of Peace, is not in their life,” he noted. “He Himself is our peace. Any other peace outside Jesus is the peace of the graveyard.” ...Read Full Article >>➤
