AC Milan are taking on Como this evening and once again, Malick Thiaw is playing from start. Having really found his spot in this team, the German spoke to the media and explained the recent changes under Sergio Conceicao.
After what was a rather tough 2023-24, with many ups and downs, Thiaw has certainly found good form again. It started under Paulo Fonseca with Matteo Gabbia as his partner, but it has continued under Conceicao with Fikayo Tomori.
Although some would like Gabbia to start instead of Tomori, Thiaw’s spot is not in any danger whatsoever. Speaking to DAZN ahead of tonight’s clash, as transcribed by MilanNews, the German defender shared his thoughts on the task at hand.
“We have to win this match, it will be very important for us. They are a good team but we have the quality to win. Differences between Conceiçao and Fonseca? We play with a higher defensive line.”
Indeed, after the draw against Cagliari last time out, Milan truly need to win. Juventus are up at the weekend as well, so losing more ground tonight on the top four spots would be far from ideal.
