There Is No Future In Nigeria, Nothing Will Make Us Return – UK-based Couple Vows
A Nigerian man, who left for the United Kingdom, UK, with his wife in 2022, has said nothing can make them want to return.....Read Full Article>>
At least, it’s japa for now. He spoke to Vanguard on why they left, what it cost them, and his current economic state.
Recall that the government of the United Kingdom, the UK, said between April 2023 and March 2024, it issued 255,000 visas to Nigerians.
While this data do not cover 2022, when this couple left Nigeria, it gives an idea of the “epidemic” proportions the Japa syndrome has assumed.
Recently, following riots in several cities of the UK, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, assured the large Nigerian Diaspora in the UK of their safety and security.
The riots were sparked by the death of three young school girls in a knife attack.
Then, they were fueled by misinformation that the attacker was an immigrant and radical Islamist, leading to protests being co-opted by anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim groups.
However, this UK-based Nigerian does not see anything, for now, that would make him panic and leave the UK.
He told the Publication: “I left with my wife in 2022. It cost me about N10 million back then, which was huge.
“But it is worth it. I don’t mind the sacrifices because there’s no future in Nigeria.”
Although he preferred to remain anonymous, he told vanguard he was a medical sales expert in Nigeria.
“However, I am an executive work coach (civil service) in the UK. And there is no painful experience for me so far.
“One good thing about relocating to the UK is that it is a place of equal opportunities and brighter future for all.”
Ask if he would help interested Nigerians to japa, “I do not know yet,” he responded.

There Won’t Be Marriage In Heaven? Pastor Giwa Drops Shocking Warning Messages To Ministers About Divorcing Wives
Pastor Adewale Giwa, the Senior Pastor of The Second Coming of Christ Ministry, has issued a stern warning to ministers of God who divorce their wives under the pretext of restitution. Speaking during a press conference at his church in Akure, Giwa emphasized that marriage holds no eternal significance and has no place in heaven.....Read Full Article>>
He called on clergy members who had multiple wives before their spiritual calling to desist from abandoning any of their spouses. Pastor Giwa dismissed the notion of divorcing wives to achieve spiritual purity as a misinterpretation of scripture.”
There is no place in the Bible that commands restitution by divorcing multiple wives, ” he stated. Giwa criticized the selective use of Old Testament teachings while neglecting Jesus Christ’ s New Testament principles on marriage.
Referring to Jesus’ teachings, Giwa recounted the biblical scenario where Jesus addressed the case of a woman who had married multiple husbands in her lifetime. When asked whose wife she would be in heaven, Jesus explained that marital relationships do not exist in the afterlife ”
This teaching clearly shows that marriage is earthly and temporal. Sending away one wife to keep another under the guise of restitution is against divine reasoning, ” Giwa affirmed.
Giwa highlighted a real- life example involving a popular juju musician- turned- pastor who made headlines for his decision to practice restitution.
The musician, who had multiple wives before his calling, divorced his second wife, choosing to remain with the first. However, following the death of his first wife, the pastor was forced to reconcile with the wife he had previously sent away.
” This incident should serve as a lesson to all. God’ s calling does not invalidate previous marital commitments. If you had multiple wives before your calling, you must embrace them as part of your responsibilities, not discard them, ” Giwa argued.
Pastor Giwa concluded his remarks by urging ministers to focus on their spiritual responsibilities rather than creating unnecessary marital conflicts. ” Ministers should remember that their primary mission is to save souls, not break homes. Marriage is an earthly institution, and there is no place for it in heaven, ” he stressed.
The pastor’ s insights have sparked widespread discussion, particularly among Christians and ministers grappling with the complexities of restitution and marital commitments.

Throwback! Ojukwu’s Letter To Victor Banjo Commanding Him To Invade Western Region
The letter written by Lt. Col. Odumegwu Ojukwu, Commander in Chief of the Biafran Armed Forces, to Lt. Col. Victor Banjo provides significant insight into the strategies and motivations during the Nigerian Civil War.....Read Full Article>>
It outlines a directive for Banjo to lead an invasion to ” liberate” Western Nigeria (Yorubaland) from what was described as ” Hausa/Fulani domination. ” This correspondence illustrates the deep political and ethnic fractures that fueled the war and highlights Ojukwu’ s vision for solidarity between the Igbo- dominated Biafra and the Yoruba people of Western Nigeria.
Ojukwu begins by emphasizing the historical grievances that contributed to Nigeria’ s disintegration. He accuses the Hausa/Fulani political bloc of attempting to dominate the rest of Nigeria, citing events such as the January 1966 coup, the July 1966 counter- coup, and the mass killings of the Igbo population as evidence.
He also references the struggles of the Yoruba people, particularly their resistance to perceived injustices in 1965, arguing that the Yorubas, like the Igbos, were victims of a system designed to suppress them.
The letter underscores a shared vision of freedom, justice, and equality between Biafra and Yorubaland. Ojukwu asserts that Biafra is committed to supporting any region seeking independence from Hausa/Fulani control. He acknowledges Banjo’ s dedication to the cause and expresses Biafra’ s readiness to provide military assistance to achieve the liberation of Yorubaland.
However, Ojukwu sets forth clear conditions for this collaboration. Firstly, Banjo is instructed to avoid interactions with the Military Administrator of the Mid- West Territory while passing through that region. Secondly, Ojukwu reiterates Biafra’ s unwavering commitment to its sovereignty, stressing that this partnership does not imply a desire to restore any semblance of the former Nigerian federation. He makes it clear that Biafra’ s independence is irrevocable and that no actions should suggest otherwise.
Ojukwu’ s letter emphasizes minimizing bloodshed and using limited force to achieve liberation. He reminds Banjo to prioritize diplomacy and to submit all requests for additional support in writing to avoid confusion. The directive concludes with a request for Banjo’ s formal acceptance of the outlined conditions before proceeding with the mission.
This document reveals Ojukwu’ s strategic attempt to forge alliances against a common enemy while safeguarding Biafra’ s sovereignty. It reflects the complexities of the Nigerian Civil War, where ethnic and political divisions shaped alliances and conflicts. Ultimately, the letter underscores the broader themes of self- determination and resistance to oppression that defined the war.
