JUST IN: Petrol pump Price Crash Again? Marketers gives fresh Updates
Nigeria’s petroleum marketers said that the Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) price may be reduced to between N900 and 1000 per litre by this year’s Yuletide with the intervention of Dangote Refinery.....Read Full Article>>
The President of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association, PETROAN, Billy Gillis-Harry, and the spokesperson of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Chinedu Ukadike, disclosed this in separate interviews with DAILY POST on Monday.
This comes as Dangote Refinery on Sunday reduced its ex-depot petrol price by N20 to N970 from N990 per litre. The company had explained that the move was to appreciate Nigerians for their support.
The development comes weeks after the refinery signed an agreement with Nigeria’s oil marketers on direct petrol purchase.
Reacting to the development, Gillis-Harry said the recent PMS price cut announced by Dangote Refinery will positively impact the petrol price for Nigerians.
According to him, the price of petrol may drop further by yuletide depending on crude oil prices and the Dangote refinery.
“It is good that the Dangote Premium Motor Spirit price has come down. This will impact heavily on the price of petrol for Nigerians.
“Definitely, the pump price will be reduced going forward. It is a good thing for players and Nigerians that the price of PMS is coming down.
“The price can even reduce further in the coming Yuletide. I can’t tell the exact price at the moment until the product is transported to our members’ filling stations nationwide.
“We, the PETROAN members, have always been optimistic that the price of PMS will be cheaper depending on the price of crude oil,” he told DAILY POST.
Similarly, Ukadike hinted at a cheaper petrol price in the coming Yuletide.
He explained that the recent price cut by Dangote Refinery means that fuel prices across IPMAN members’ filling stations will drop between N15 and N20 depending on the location.
According to him, in the past weeks, IPMAN members had reduced petrol prices from between N1200 and N1300 to N1100 and N1150 per litre.
Ukadike added that the cheapest petrol price Nigerians should expect by December 2024 should be between N900 and N1000 per litre.
“The reduction in the ex-depot prices of PMS at Dangote Refinery shows the market is now healthier. Instead of the price increasing, it is now decreasing.
“Based on the location, filling station outlets will reduce the petrol pump price by at least N15 to N20.
“Marketers have started reducing pump prices even before the Dangote Petrol price cut.
“Before, the price of petrol at IPMAN members retail outlets went for N1200 and N1300, but it has dropped to between N1100 and N1150 per litre.
“It is difficult to estimate. However, the cheapest price Nigerians should expect by December 2024 should be between N900 and N1000 per litre,” he told DAILY POST.
DAILY POST reports that Nigeria witnessed several fuel pump prices last month, which saw the product rise to between N1060 and N1150 per litre from N617 recorded in August 2024.
Recall that on Friday last week, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited had told oil marketers to halt petrol imports and concentrate on Dangote refinery.

BREAKING: Trump vows to punish Canada – ‘You’ll pay huge price for allowing illegal migrants into US’
President-elect Donald Trump vowed punishment Monday that on his first day in office, he would impose a 25% tariff on all products coming into the United States from Mexico and Canada. “As everyone is aware, thousands of people are pouring through Mexico and Canada, bringing Crime and Drugs at levels never seen before,” Trump wrote in a post on his social media platform Truth Social.....Read Full Article>>
Trump said that on Jan. 20, in one of his first executive orders, he would sign all the necessary paperwork to levy a 25% tariff on all products arriving from the U.S.’s North American neighbours.
I lost my hands, girlfriend, dad’s landed properties survived depression; but I’m alive’
“This Tariff will remain in effect until Drugs, in particular, Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country!” he wrote. “Both Mexico and Canada have the absolute right and power to easily solve this long-simmering problem. We hereby demand that they use this power, and until such time that they do, it is time for them to pay a very big price!”
Trump said in another Truth Social post that he also would levy an additional 10% tariff on top of existing tariffs on Chinese products coming into the United States.
“I have had many talks with China about the massive amounts of drugs, in particular Fentanyl, being sent into the United States – But to no avail,” he wrote. “Representatives of China told me that they would institute their maximum penalty, that of death, for any drug dealers caught doing this but, unfortunately, they never followed through.”
Trump said the additional tariff on Chinese goods would remain in place until it stops allowing illegal drugs to pour into the U.S.
Throughout his presidential campaign, Trump threatened to crack down on illegal migrant crossings along the U.S.’s southern border with Mexico and to curb the flow of illegal drugs into the country. He has vowed to declare a national emergency and use military assets to deport a record number of immigrants who are in the United States illegally.
Despite Trump’s claim that drugs and crime are at never-before-seen levels, violent crime in the United States declined for the third straight year in 2023, including instances of murder, rape and assault, according to estimates released by the FBI in September.
Trump’s decision to use tariffs as a weapon to fight illegal immigration and drugs could be a double-edged sword. Economists warn that slapping tariffs on products shipped into the United States could drive up inflation and interest rates and result in higher consumer prices. Tariffs are taxes on merchandise shipped to the U.S. from other countries.

Do You Remember? The Leaked Video Of General Diya Crying And Begging Late General Sani Abacha
In a leaked video clip, former Ogun State Military Leader General Oladipo Diya is seen kneeling and pleading before late Head of State General Sani Abacha, tearfully begging over allegations of a 1997 coup plot.....Read Full Article>>
The video, widely circulated, has sparked debate about the events leading to his arrest and trial for allegedly planning to overthrow Abacha’ s regime. General Diya was questioned at the Human Rights Violations Investigation Commission (HRVIC) about his involvement in the 1997 coup plot. During the cross- examination, he denied any role in the conspiracy but admitted that he was aware of the plan.
Diya explained that he feared for his life if he reported the coup mastermind to authorities. However, his denial of pleading with Abacha was contradicted by the video evidence presented during the hearing, showing him on his knees before the late dictator.
General Oladipo Diya held significant positions within the Nigerian military government. He was appointed Chief of Defence Staff and later became Chief of General Staff in 1993, serving as the de facto Vice President under Abacha’ s regime. By 1994, he was also the Vice Chairman of the Provisional Ruling Council, consolidating his influence within the military administration.
However, by 1997, Diya and several dissident military officers were accused of orchestrating a plot to overthrow Abacha. The alleged coup was reportedly uncovered by loyalists within Abacha’ s inner circle, leading to Diya’ s arrest alongside other conspirators. The subsequent military tribunal found Diya guilty of treason, sentencing him and his co- accused to death. The trial and its outcomes were widely criticized as being politically motivated and lacking due process.
The leaked video of Diya pleading before Abacha offered a rare glimpse into the intense power struggles and paranoia that characterized Nigeria’ s military regimes. While some interpreted his actions as evidence of guilt, others saw them as a desperate attempt to avoid execution in an environment where betrayal and suspicion were rampant.
Diya’ s fate took a dramatic turn following Abacha’ s sudden death in 1998. His successor, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, granted Diya a pardon and released him from prison, effectively sparing his life. The transition marked the beginning of Nigeria’ s move toward democracy and allowed Diya to re- enter public life, where he later became a vocal advocate for good governance and national unity.
The events surrounding the 1997 coup plot remain a contentious chapter in Nigeria’ s history, reflecting the dangers of unchecked power and the precarious nature of survival within a military dictatorship. Diya’ s story, from his rise in the military to his near execution and eventual redemption, serves as a reminder of the complexities and human cost of authoritarian rule.
